Ice/frost build up

the refrigerator worked great for almost 2 years. the past year and a half i have been battling with the ice maker always having ice/frost build up. i have to clear out the fridge to defrost everything and have a working ice maker for about 2 months and then back at it again. also now it is not cooling like it use to and the motor is making a weird sound. people warned me and i didn't listen. i just hope samsung will be helpful when i call. please people steer away of this model, i saw a news clip of people having issues.

i purchased this refrigerator 4 years ago and for the first three years it was ok. in the past year the icemaker has started building up with ice on the top and sides and the icemaker can no longer make ice because there is a buildup and it will not let the ice drop into the bin. also the drawer, the long pull out drawer gets a buildup of ice underneath it and i have to remove the drawer and get rid of the ice. and i also have to remove the bin for the icemaker and defrost that also. this is the worst refrigerator i have ever purchased. i have not reached out to samsung because after reading others problems samsung wont do anything about it except for send out a repair tech and not cover the bill. i'm not paying any repair company for something that should be fixed by the manufacturer

after 6 years of repairs, i'm getting rid of this fridge. it clearly has design flaws that samsung refuses to recognize. i've had the ice maker replaced multiple times, i've had the door seals replaced and ice maker siliconed by the repair reps. i've had the back panel replaced. i've had temperature sensors replaced. i gave up on the ice maker a year ago. i've been getting bags of ice from the gas station next door or from sonic multiple times per week. the one in this fridge will freeze up within a week of me thawing it. my fridge is again buzzing loudly several times per hour as the fan scrapes against the ice building up behind the back panel. my food is now spoiling early again. this time, i'm out of warranty, and out of temporary fixes. stay away from this fridge.

unfortunately this was the biggest let down. purchased this fridge 51/2 years ago, but the ice machine started giving us trouble more than 2 years ago. we have to repair leaks, icemaker (still not working). our dishwasher hasnt worked in over a year and the repair guy said that they dont have the part. made the mistake and bought samsung washer and dryer. this time i made sure to get the monthly warranty. i will never buy their products again. crossing my fingers that the stove and microwave dont go out!!!

this is probably the worst ice maker ever made. definetily not expected from samsung of all companies. doesn't even last 3 years. ive had older unknown brand fridge with icemakers that lasted well over 10 years with no issues. this one frosted up daily and was a pain to defrost. after a few defrosts, it completly stopped working. i tried all the tips and tricks from youtube, google, and samsung with no luck. not only was this fridge expensive, but now i need to spend even more to replace the icemaker!

Waste of money..

i bought this fridge about 5 years ago, it worked for almost 2 years, then the ice maker stopped working. i was out of warnty, and the repairman sd the new ice maker would cost about $400, but would only work for about 3 mths. he suggested that i not spend the money, and i agreed. a few months later the back fan started making noise that got louder as days went by. i emptied the fridge and took the inside back panel off and found a giant chunk of ice on an un-insulated & un-heat wrapped, section of coolant pipe. the ice had grown so big that it was hitting the fan in the back of the fridge. so, i made my fix with spray foam insulation. it's been about a year since i did that and it's starting to make the noise again. i'm looking to dump this one and get a different fridge.

nothing but problems with this fridge. - poorly designed (hard to clean) - plastic shelves and door bins that crack and break (there are cracks all over the interior with normal use) and that are super expensive to replace - ice maker is unreliable and freezes up all of the time (we finally gave up) - if you open either door the water maker doesnt dispense on the left i could go on and on which is why i added this review.. samsung should stick to making tvs.

dont buy this model if you plan on using your ice maker!!!! it freezes up every other week. we jave repaced the ice maker and doing the same thing. we have to run 3 to 4 defrost cycles before we can get ice again every other week. read many reviews about this same thing! people have filed suit and samsung refuses to address the issue or do a recall.

we always buy samsung, washer& dryer, dish washer, cook top double oven mic combo, our phones... well we will not be buying another refrigerator as this thing has been a hunk of junk. just out of warranty the ice maker breaks and we paid to fix but it has never worked well. it freezes up and continually fails. the outside it fragile, dents very easy. inside is poor space design. samsung didn't do anything to help and now we have buy a new frig. ugg, whatever you do don't buy this pile.

One of the most worthless fridges out there

where do i start? first, the ice maker continuously freezes solid. for two years we have had issues with the air cirulation fan freezing solid as well. expensive to repair. and today, (3/1/21), it went into demo mode and there was no one near the thing all day as we were all at work. came home to a frdge full of ruined food. this thing is a bigger piece of junk than the samsung washer we just got rid of becase the bleach dispenser rotted out of it in less than 5 years. whatever you do, do not by samsung appliances. they should stick to phones only. oh and their tv's aren't much better either.

for the last three years, i have to replace the ice maker and fixed the frosting, which caused water leakage in vegetables & fruit and on the bottom of the cool select pantry. now, the frost is built up again and it is making a disturbance loud noise. i'll never buy a samsung refrigerator again and i do not recommend it to anyone. i'm so fed up with this refrigerator. the other samsung kitchen appliances are working so far.

Design Flaw-No Attempt To Make It Right

trips the gfci (for code) it is on. originally was bought for a new build, delayed (covid) so it waited in the warehouse for 8 months. left 4 months of warranty once installed. tripped the gfci on the first day installed. was replaced with the same mode. replacement didn't start tripping the gfci until the manufacturer warranty was finished. we were told it wasn't designed to be on a gfci, and to have the gfci replaced with a regular outlet (can't do that because it wouldn't be to code) so now we have a fridge, not designed to be on a gfci, on a gfci, tripping it 4-5 times a day and no recommendations other than to break code.

Problems w/ ice maker and icing over of evap fan

the ice maker freezes over, ice cubes stick together - causes chips of ice during dispensing which collect, melt and form black mold in dispenser chute (plops into glass when the flap opens the next time you get ice). ice builds on fridge evap fan, causes grinding noise and eventual total freeze up of fan and no cold air circulation. i've put in hundreds of dollars of repairs with no permanent fix. i got good at defrosting the ice maker and learned to live with it, but the fridge evap fan ices over every 2-3 months and you have to remove all of the food, shelves and bins to get the evap cover off. samsung has lost me as a customer for life with this experience.

have had it for a few years now. never had much trouble with it, changing the filter is easy and not real messy. its done a great job of keeping tempuratures and maintaining both the fridge and freezer where set. the bins in the left door around the dispenser don't hold a lot and are of limited use. but adjusting shelves and the large drawer for cheeses etc are great. would buy it again.

honestly i'm in tears over this i have had so many repairs done for ice on the back panel inside i have had the circuit board and ice maker replaced twice by your repair guys. now the whole unit isn't working and i bought in 2015 . i lost $400 in food and i'm now without a refrigerator and no more money for repairs i don't have money for a new fridge. hhgregg is out it business i $2000 for the unit. i'm really upset. if you want i make it right refund my money. i need a refrigerator these coolers i'm using aren't cutting it.

i am looking at purchasing a new refrigerator right now after wasting $150 for samsung to tell me this garbage will cost another $500 to fix. that is not even including the ice machine which has been broken for a few months now after being serviced several times and even replaced. the fridge is just barely 3 years old! i guess this is a common issue but samsung doesnt back their products. all of my major appliances are samsung but i will be sure to change that one at a time starting with the fridge. my samsung stove knobs all broke within two years of having also.

Broken, Broken, and Broken

in my past i had a vintage round top frigidaire, and an amana. i replaced both due to changing styles, they both worked over 20 years without failing, including the amana with a ice maker. in 2015 we bought the samsung and it worked a couple years without any trouble. then we started having ice build up under the pantry drawer, and had to clean out every couple months. we found what seems to be a cure on the internet, to install a longer drain tube heater. about the same time the ice maker started freezing up, and that needed defrosting every couple months. so we have had trouble constantly since this refrigerator was 2 years old, and now the ice maker quit all together. any advice would be appreciated.

my wife and i as first time homebuyers selected this samsung model and were very happy with how it looked in our kitchen. great feature set! after a while we realized we should have done our homework. the ice dispenser on this machine is faulty. last month a grinding fan noise started. we found out samsung would cover the ice maker under warranty. great! not great. the tech that samsung sent found a sensor had already gone bad. $265 down the drain. if we would have known the fridge would break that soon we would have put that money towards a better quality fridge. this is not a 1 star because it was a great fridge, when it worked. shame on us for not doing our research.

the icemaker continually ices up. this creates a wedge of frozen cubes which prevents the ice from falling into the dispenser and consequently making more ice. i regularly have to use a knife to break up the ice jam. am now resorting to manually defrosting the unit with a blow-dryer.

Beautiful refrigerator, works fine. Annoyingly loud. This is a manufacturing defect of which Samsung is aware. I'm not certain it can be successfully fixed by a certified repair person. I did not discover this issue until it was out of warranty. I'm very disappointed.

This is our 2nd purchase of this refrigerator and we LOVE it. There is so much room and you would not believe how much room in the bottom freezer. We deliberately kept our old fridge and put it in the garage thinking we would need more fridge space and we hardly used it at all. The ice and water dispenser is great and with the filter, we always have fresh water and ice. We also talked the person who purchased our home into buying one. She knew we were taking ours and loved it and asked how we liked it and sure enough, she bought one too.

I purchased this fridge a few years ago. Overall it is beautfiul, well built, and spacious on the inside. The water dispenser delivers a somehwat slow, but always perfectly chilled, stream of purified water. The filters are just a little pricy but well worth their cost in my opinion. The taste of the water is excellent. I have struggled quite a bit with the ice maker. Lots of trouble shooting involved with small plastic parts that could possibly break whilst trying to access the ice maker itself. Overall I reccomend this fridge if you consider yourself a patient person. My entire household is comprised of Samsung products. I am very loyal to this brand and I believe you should be as well!

It works - not sure about support

I purchased a floor model and it turns out it was made in 2012! The screen is faded and there is no fitting on the end of the water connector. Had a tech out to take a look and he said that this is how it comes...just a tube. After checking the manual, it shows the fitting and it is labeled as "supplied". Trying to have them come out again to address this as we cannot use the water or ice function.

Great Fridge, Could Use One Adjustment

This fridge has worked great for the six months we've had it. In that time, my only minor gripe is that the large drawer at the bottom has to have both doors open. I understand the reason, and understand that for many it's not a big deal (hence keeping the five stars), but I do wish there would be a way to open only part of it, or allow the user to customize it (lock two sliding drawers together or something). There is plenty of space. The shelves are customizable enough to make most items work. My short wife does not like the normal location we keep the butter (top of the door) being a bin, versus the flip-top lid that our previous fridge was. The freezer is spacious and has a tight seal.

Never have I regretted a purchase until this one. I purchased this 5 years ago and every year we have to get it serviced at least once if not multiple times because the ice makes ices over. This is not a cheap or easy fix but a costly repair if not under a warranty.

Energy saver, but has quality problem!

its energy saver feature got me to buy it. but the quality disappoints me. i had it for 6 years. then the fridge got weird. the fridge gets too cold. water gets frozen. i turn up the temperature to 42, but ice still forms. i measured it, it's actuarily in 30s. i contact samsung to schedule a service, it wouldn't be able to come for another 10. my brother has a samsung refrigerator, too. it has icy problem, too. another friend complained with his samsung fridge. if i know earlier, i wouldn't buy it. put it in comparison, my previous fridge was by ge , it last more than 25 year and still works.

do not buy this! had for only a few days and the shelf was not level. now with not even having it a year the handle is off on one side and the warranty was only good for 6 months, so samsung wants to charge me 200 dollars to just have a technician come out! seriously! you can't even fix it without having technician come and remove the panel..needless to say i can't afford that during this pandemic!

like many others i too have had a terrible experience with the ice maker. weve had the fridge for just about 5 years now but havent had functioning ice for more 3 years. it freezes to a solid cube of ice and becomes useless. the entire top drawer of freezer is now deficated to ice trays as weve given up on the fridge at this point.

3 repairs for the same issue in less than a year

purchased 11/19. needed service. in march 2020 i had to have it repaired for the same issue. it took over a week of emails because they said out of warranty allegedly 02/2020. they wouldnt accept the recipts and paperwork from the store. they agreed to send someone out on a warranty to the last repair. september 2020 the same issues all over again. do not buy this product!
