I am no happy with this product. It does not compact everything. It only compacts water bottles, some cans, products that I can usually crush myself by hand. The instructions said to fill it half full, but the place where I purchased said I had to fill it to the top before it will start to compact. I filled it to the top, but it only compacted some of the items, not all. The trash compactor that I had before was better than this one.

We've had our new trash compactor for a couple of months now. I don't know why more people don't have one they are so handy and convenient. I suppose we might not use it as much as other people. We do recycle everything we can.

I bought this about 6 mo ago. Works beautifully. BAGS fit perfectly. However, you must line them up so you can latch the bag to the unit. Whirlpool supplied bags do have a smell, so I will probably buy a different brand when these run out. If you throw out liquid, then line the bottom with a thick bag, or the liquid will spill out of the bottom of the bag. If you trash items with a strong odor, put them in separate plastic bags so the smell will be contained. I know have 1-bag to trash vs 8-10per week!!!

This is a unit that can be installed by almost anyone that can plug something in. Plug it in and slip it into the proper sized opening and the job is done. Performance is excellent and requires only the push of a button.

Needed a new compactor fast as it is used daily. Got a good deal and the appliance store I purchased it from was very helpful and easy to work with. They also had a lot of compactors to choose from in many price ranges. I chose Whirlpool because of the brand name and reputation for reliability.

Bought this to replace a compactor that finally died after 28 years of use. This one works great and is quieter. I don't think it will last near as long because of the plastic components now used in the drive system.

This unit replaced a Kitchen Aid 18 inch compactor. I regret that Kitchen Aid no longer made a 18 inch compactor. The features of the Kitchen Aid were far greater than the present Whirlpool.

I'm pretty happy with this trash compactor so far. It holds far more than I expected. Fairly quiet operation. My only criticism is that I ordered a free-standing appliance, which fits perfectly and conveniently next to the kitchen island; however, the back is unfinished and clearly intended to be installed against a wall. I'm trying to figure out a way to camouflage it for a more aesthetic appearance. Otherwise, I think I made a good decision.

This compactor is fantastic!Holds 3 weeks garbage before I have to put new bag in.Love it love it! Seems that another review of the trash compactor I did must not have made it to qualify? It replaces a 30 year old Whirlpool trash compactor that had the deodorizer feature, dense pack feature and several color panels from which to choose, and was not "tinny" sounding like this one--plus, it was a third of the price of this model.

It is wonderful to have a trash compactor again. I bought this one to replace a 20 plus year old Whirlpool compactor that finally bit the dust. I had an older Whirlpool Compactor that was great. This one does not have a ram the compacts as well. The instructions say it take being half full to compact but this must be 3/4 full for it to do any compacting. Also it has no spot for a deodorizer like my old one had. Bottom line this in not have the Compactor that the older models were.

The last whirlpool compactor lasted me for over 25 years. Several minor repairs but nothing major. I could have kept it running for a few dolars but thought the motor must be getting tired so i felt it was time to replace it

We bought this in August. It worked great, and saved a lot of space in our trash can we take to curb. Exactly what we were looking for. Basic, no bells and whistles. However, several days ago it just quit. We have a service appointment on the 19th. About a 2 week wait for repair. Thing break, we understand, but put more quality in these products. I want to be able to use this trouble free for a long time at these prices.
